Top Food, Shopping and Experiences in the Lehigh Valley This Week
1. Tshikovi Tea House
OK, so we think this first find is super cool and such a unique experience to come to the Valley. Tshikovi Tea House is a Black female-owned luxury tea company on Main Street in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Owner Yvette Nathalie Brown is a certified Tea Sommelier who created the tea house as a result of growing up in a household where tea was a staple that went with everything and healed everything. The tea house specializes in loose leaf tea blends that celebrate Black women who are important to Black culture, have influenced Nathalie and that celebrate hip hop and R&B classics. One cool thing you can do is book a tea tour for parties ranging anywhere from two to 20 people. Tea Tours occur on Sundays within the Tshikovi Tea House and they include a private adult tea tasting for your crew, light refreshments and time to shop. Don’t worry, masks are required and temperatures will be taken at the door. The Tea House also has a Mother’s Day Brunch and Poetry Slam on the schedule for May, so be sure to check those out as well!
2. Read, Breathe, Move Yoga
Empower Nutrition & Wellness is pretty much your one-stop shop for wellness in the Valley. They offer an array of services from sports nutrition, behavioral health, disordered eating, pre-and post-natal care, therapeutic photography and SO much more. Most recently they introduced a wide variety of yoga, meditation and Reiki classes that you can take in-person or virtually. One of those classes is their Read, Breathe, Move Yoga class. The class is a book club/yoga practice that begins with a group discussion of elements of a chosen book and culminates in a 30-minute themed yoga practice and meditation that is reflective of those concepts (with a new book being chosen for each six-week session). The first book is Untamed by Glennon Doyle and the first class begins on Tuesday, April 27.
3. Party Pouches
As you know, we love a unique way to consume our cocktails and couldn’t wait to share these gigantic one-gallon party pouches from Birthright Brewing Co. For $30 you can purchase one gallon of any of their hard axe beverages, lemonades or coffees. Their current to-go menu features Hard Axe Arnie, Cotton Candy, Hard Axe Jalapeño Pineapple, Hard Axe Sweet Tea and Hard Axe Lemonade. And if you decide to grab a bite at the brewery, may we recommend any of their wood oven pizzas—we can’t even decide which one we love most!
4. The Mix Up
The hardest thing about getting ice cream is deciding on which flavor you want to commit to. Well, The Udder Bar realized this and created The Mix Up. It’s basically a sampler platter where you get to choose four different flavors of ice cream to try. For those of us that are indecisive, this is the perfect solution. Upon picking your favorite flavor from this sampler platter, be sure to check out the absolutely ridiculous menu items you can get with said flavor—there’s waffle tacos, donut sundaes, warm cookie sundaes, bubble waffles, hot bunz and SO much more.
5. Sterner's Stems
We know you all love plants and this is why we’re sharing Sterner’s Stems. Relatively new to the plant scene, Melissa Sterner is a botanical artist who creates stunning and unique succulent arrangements and wreaths that are truly works of art. Most recently she’s hosted a pop-up shop at Jay’s Local, but you can expect to see her at an extended pop-up retail location featuring her botanical works of art and even hosting workshops very soon. Stay tuned for details by following her on Instagram.
