Top Food, Drinks and Things to Do in the Lehigh Valley This Week
1. Hot Chocolate French Toast Sticks
When your menu item starts with hot chocolate, we’re automatically saying yes, I’ll take that. As part of Apollo Grill’s Holiday Brunch Menu offered only on the weekends from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., you have the opportunity to order the deliciousness that is a hot chocolate French toast stick. Considered an appetizer (because why not), these French toast sticks are covered in cocoa powdered sugar and marshmallow drizzle with chocolate sauce. Maybe pair that with a curbside espresso martini to-go for a real boozy brunch at home.
2. Netflix "Here for the Holidays" Light Display
Alright, this one you have to travel just a litttttle bit for, but it’s always nice to get out of town if even for a few hours, right? Only six towns in the United States received the privilege of having their Main Street decorated as a result of a collaboration between Netflix and Blue Revolver Inc. and, lucky for us, Stroudsburg was one of them. Every night between 6th and 7th Streets, the town of Stroudsburg becomes illuminated with a grand light display as an effort to bring cheer during these unprecedented times. You’ll notice some decorations from Netflix titles including Jingle Jangle and Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square—but what else would you expect from a brand collaboration? Never the less, if you’re looking for something to do to spark some holiday cheer, we suggest a drive to Stroudsburg to enjoy this special light show and maybe even grab some bites to-go from local restaurants while you’re at it.
3. Nutella-Filled Marshmallows
The name alone justifies why this menu item made this list—um, a NUTELLA-FILLED MARSHMALLOW?! Again, two separate food items that are heavenly on their own, but when you combine them—does it get any better? A special item on Jay’s Local menu, these marshmallows are chockfull of Nutella and lightly toasted on the outside. Pretty much the makings of gourmet s’more sans graham cracker—but really, since you’re grabbing these to-go, why not smush it in between a pair of graham crackers you have sitting in the cupboard just waiting for this gourmet pairing?
4. Digital Pet Portraits
For all of you pet owners out there, we have a super fun and easy photo opportunity for your pet that supports a local shelter (all of the feel-good vibes with this one). All you have to do is grab a photo of your pet facing the camera and the team at Peaceable Kingdom will make sure it’s edited with the background of your choice. You can choose between your pet sitting on a holiday chair or the centerfold of a wreath. If you have absolutely no luck getting your pet to pose in your own photoshoot, this is the perfect solution. These are only $10 for either photo background, so make sure you hurry up and order while you still can as this campaign ends on Sunday.
5. Stroop There It Is Cocktail
If you’re familiar with European sweet treats, you’ve probably heard of or eaten a Stroopwafel. These Dutch desserts resemble a compressed waffle and have become something of a holiday staple. Social Still has taken them to the next level by incorporating their delicious flavor into a craft cocktail masterpiece. Their recent “Stroop There It Is” cocktail features their Sasquatch Maple Bourbon, gingerbread liqueur and stroopwafel syrup. Head over to their online ordering menu to order to-go for this liquid dessert.
