Top Food and Experiences in the Lehigh Valley This Week
1. Seafood Pot at Family Chicken & Waffles
If there was one thing to try at Family Chicken & Waffles in Forks Township it’s the gigantic filled to the brim specialty seafood pots fit for an entire group. There are over 10 types of pots to choose from, ranging from the Original Seafood Pot (including crab cluster, shrimp and mussels), to the Louisiana Pot (crab cluster, crawfish, shrimp and mussels), to the Lobster Pot (one pound of shrimp, mussels and two five-ounce lobster tails) and so many more. Each pot comes with corn, potatoes and turkey sausage so there’s absolutely no way you’re going away from this dish hungry.
2. Olive & Grace Boutique
Only a few weeks on the scene, Olive & Grace Boutique is a new organization dedicated to serving young girls in need throughout the Lehigh Valley. Founded by Emily Phifer, a 2019 Kutztown University grad, Olive & Grace partners with local middle and highs schools to determine the needs of their female student population and provides them with a free boutique of items donated by the community. Their free boutique is in need of clothing for girls and young women in grades 6–12 as well as personal hygiene items. You can find a list of donation requests on their website. If you do plan on donating some of your old items, they currently offer porch pick-ups, a PO box for mailing donations and will soon be hosting pop-up events throughout the Valley. Save the date for their launch party at Fox & Finch Studio on Sunday, March 28 where you can meet the team, donate items and enjoy light refreshments. You can find more information and RSVP here.
3. The Morning Toast at Barley Creek Brewing
Barley Creek Brewing has so many unique experiences available, it was hard to choose just one to feature. From S’more Trailside Dining tucked away in the trees where you get your own dining site with picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, fire pit (and s’more platter) to the outdoor Pint Size Park with a Tiki Bar and array of outdoor games like wiffleball, ping pong, bocce and more, there’s an array of options to choose from. This Find It post features their Morning Toast menu because we were intrigued by the idea of breakfast at a brewery. We’re not talking your generic bacon, egg, toast with orange juice menu here. Barley Creek has an entire Morning Toast menu with gourmet items like Banana Fosters French Toast, Chicken & Waffles, Breakfast Crepe and Lox and Cream Cheese. In addition to breakfast itself, there’s a variety of breakfast cocktails such as a Morning Toastini featuring Baileys, Rumchata, Buttershots Schnapps, cream, and a cinnamon sugar rim and so many more (we see you, mimosa sampler).
4. Soup Flight at Stooge's
This find comes from High on Eating’s most recent excursion to Stooge’s in Allentown. Ever since they’ve remodeled and reopened, they’re been chock full of delicious and unique menu items (remember their fry trays?). This soup flight is no exception. Offered Monday through Friday during the 4–7 p.m. happy hour time, you can grab one of these soup flights for only $4. Pair it with a Stooges Stein and you’re good to go.
5. Fleur De Sucre Patisserie
We really love finding these made-to-order gourmet desserts in the Valley—who knew we had so many to choose from? Fleur De Sucre Patisserie has the most divine in French-style pastry. Often popping up at local farmers markets and featuring special holiday menus, Fleur De Sucre offers galette, macarons, tarts, babka and many other specialties. Head over to her Facebook page to see the latest offerings.
