1. One-Chair Barbershop
We can’t quite put our finger on what it is that makes Nate Storck and The Keystone Barber Shop so cool, but maybe that’s just the point—it can’t be explained. It could be the design aesthetic and complete remodel that Nate did himself, or it could be the fact that The Keystone Barber Shop focuses on the whole experience of a haircut. So much so, that there’s only one chair in the entire shop, featuring a longer than normal appointment time so Nate can provide a true one-on-one experience with engaging conversation in a relaxing environment. Every haircut is catered to the client and is finished with a hot lather neck shave and a steam towel. The shop features Tip Top Pomade and Lancaster Beard Co. products for sale, along with Keystone Barber Shop T-shirts. Head over to their website for available appointment times.
2. Candyland Train Car
Boyertown’s famous Colebrookdale Railroad is making their holiday excursion train rides extra special this year with the introduction of their ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas excursion nighttime train ride featuring their open-air Candyland train car. Guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas as they enjoy hot cocoa and a reading of the ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. While visitors can stay warm in the traditional Victorian cars, one family at a time can pop out to the custom-built open-air car for a visit with Santa. Complimentary cocoa, cookies and gifts from Santa are included in this whimsically magical train ride on Saturday and Sunday nights throughout the month of December. Tickets can be purchased for limited time slots on their website.

3. Secret Pie Society
The name alone spurs all sorts of questions and wonder about its meaning. Is there truly such a thing as a secret society centered around an all-American dessert? We’re here to confirm that indeed, yes, there is such a thing as a Secret Pie Society and it’s headquartered in Easton. The duo behind Pie + Tart (that super tiny and cute urban bake shop on Northampton Street) created the Secret Pie Society where members can choose between a three-, six- or 12-month membership in which they receive a secret seasonal pie or tart each month. The flavor is only revealed when you open the box upon pick-up. The pies are packed with natural and local ingredients and serve six to eight. Each box includes a pie card where you’ll find the list of ingredients and interesting history on the origin of the recipe. They also offer a gift membership so you can gift your loved ones with a secret pie this holiday season. Stay tuned for pick-up opportunities at their shop pie hole (LOL, it’s a pick-up pie window—genius, right?) in the upcoming months by following their social media accounts.
4. Cheese Subscription
As if a pie subscription wasn’t the best thing we heard this week, we got word about a cheese subscription that’s in the works and this one is delivered right to your door! Talk about exactly what we needed in 2020. Flint Hill Farm of Coopersburg is working on putting together a monthly artisan cheese box that will include five 4 ½- to 5-ounce hand chosen Alpine goat or Jersey cow cheeses. Each cheese will have a corresponding card highlighting wine for pairing and tasting options. Price per month is expected to fall around $25 with a six-month subscription for $140 and a 12-month for $120 plus shipping. Keep an eye out on their online store for the release of these boxes on or around December 10.
5. Grazing Boards
We recently stumbled on the Instagram account of Cheesejawn, a local service that creates cheese boxes, boards and grazing tables. If the photos alone don’t make you whip out your credit card to place an order, we don’t know what will. Eliminating all of the work you would have to do yourself; you can order from Cheesejawn easily through an Instagram DM or this Google form. In true 2020 fashion, payment is made through CashApp or Venmo for a contactless exchange. You can choose from a variety of seasonal offerings or standard platter sizes ranging from the mini jawn of a four-by-four platter that feeds one to a full cheese board that serves eight to 10 or a full-blown grazing table customized to fit your needs. And a fun fact? Barre3 members get a special discount.
